Connecting Amfy

See what charging your car at home cost, what Amfy pays you back for it and what is left on balance.

Amfy is a service of another company, Amfy B.V. in Rotterdam. If you charge your car at home with a charger registered with Amfy, Amfy turns the kWh you charged into ERE certificates and pays you for them. Connect Amfy to Thuisbord and you see, per month, what charging cost with your own contract, what Amfy pays you back and what is left on balance.

The connection is an extra. Thuisbord works exactly the same without Amfy, and as long as nobody connects Amfy, Thuisbord reads nothing there.

What you need

  • An Amfy account, with a charger that already reports charging sessions.
  • A Thuisbord account in your household. Every adult in the household can connect Amfy; a household has at most one connection with Amfy.
  • Your electricity contract in the app, so Thuisbord can work out what charging cost. Read Contract and tariff.

Connecting Amfy

  1. In the app, go to Settings › Integrations and choose Amfy.
  2. Your browser opens Amfy's own login page. Log in there and give Thuisbord permission to read.
  3. You come back to the Thuisbord website. It asks which household you are connecting Amfy to. If your household's name is right, choose Connect. If someone else sent you the link, or the name is wrong, choose Don't connect.
  4. If you use the app on your phone, go back to the app. In the browser you come back to Integrations by yourself.

Thuisbord then fetches your charging sessions, usually within a minute. From then on Thuisbord checks Amfy every hour for new ones. Amfy receives new sessions from your charger's manufacturer a few times a day, so a session from tonight may only show tomorrow.

What you see

On the Home screen and on your phone you see this month's charging: what it cost, what Amfy pays back and the difference. The app lists every charging session per month, newest first, with the time, your charger's name, the kWh, the cost, Amfy's amount and the difference, and the month's totals.

Amfy's amount is an estimate at first

Amfy first calculates with a provisional rate. Only when the price of the ERE certificates is fixed does Amfy make the amount final. Until then Thuisbord shows the amount as an estimate. Thuisbord takes over the final amount as soon as Amfy reports it.

How Thuisbord works out the cost

Amfy knows how many kWh you charged, measured by the meter in your charger. Thuisbord works out what that electricity cost with your own contract:

  • If your Homey or Home Assistant sends your charger's charging power, Thuisbord spreads the kWh over the minutes in which the charger was charging. Otherwise Thuisbord spreads them evenly over the whole session; the cost is then shown as an estimate.
  • Every minute counts at the price you pay at that moment: your fixed price, the low or normal tariff, or with a dynamic contract that quarter's market price with your markup, energy tax and VAT.
  • If you charge with electricity from your own solar panels, Thuisbord counts that at the price of electricity from the grid too. So you see what charging costs you in electricity you could otherwise have fed back or used.
  • Thuisbord works out a session with your contract as it was when Thuisbord first fetched the session. If your contract changes later, the cost of earlier sessions stays the same.

If your contract is not in the app yet, the cost says the contract is missing. Once you fill it in, Thuisbord works those sessions out after all. With a dynamic contract the cost sometimes waits for the market prices; they are added by themselves.

What Thuisbord reads at Amfy

Thuisbord only reads your charging sessions: when charging started and stopped, your charger's name, how many kWh you charged, what Amfy pays you for it and whether that amount is fixed yet. Not your charger's meter readings, and not its brand, model or status. Thuisbord sends Amfy nothing about your household: no meter readings, no address and no other data. Amfy does see that you connected Thuisbord.

Thuisbord keeps the charging sessions for 13 months: this month and the twelve months before it. Read more on the privacy page.

Connecting again

Sometimes you have to connect Amfy again, for example when you took Thuisbord's access away in Amfy's app, or when you also connected your Amfy account to another household in Thuisbord: Amfy allows one connection with Thuisbord per account. Integrations then says so. Connect Amfy again as above; the charging sessions Thuisbord already had stay.

Disconnecting

Go to Settings › Integrations and disconnect Amfy. Every adult in the household can do that. Thuisbord then asks Amfy to revoke the access and deletes all charging sessions at once. The same happens when the adult who connected Amfy leaves the household.

You can also revoke the access at Amfy itself, in Amfy's app under Profiel › Gekoppelde apps. Thuisbord then reads nothing more; disconnect in Thuisbord too afterwards, so Thuisbord deletes the charging sessions.
