Sources and licences

Where the electricity prices, the tax rates and the weather come from, and under which licence Thuisbord shows them.

Thuisbord does not make the electricity prices or the weather itself, but fetches them from the sources below. Your own meter readings come from your Homey or Home Assistant; read about those in What Thuisbord receives.

Electricity prices

The market prices of electricity come from:

  • Energy-Charts by Fraunhofer ISE. Thuisbord asks there first.
  • SMARD.de by the Bundesnetzagentur, the German regulator of the energy market. Thuisbord asks there when Energy-Charts does not give the prices.
  • EnergyZero, a Dutch energy supplier. Thuisbord asks there when Energy-Charts and SMARD.de both do not have the prices yet. EnergyZero gets the prices another way, so it sometimes has them sooner. The source shown with those prices is EnergyZero; EnergyZero gives no licence with them.

Energy-Charts gets the prices from SMARD.de itself. So the source shown with the prices is Bundesnetzagentur | SMARD.de, via Energy-Charts.info, or Bundesnetzagentur | SMARD.de when they come straight from SMARD.de.

Energy-Charts and SMARD.de give the prices under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0):

Thuisbord converts the market prices from euros per MWh to euros per kWh. Then Thuisbord adds your supplier's markup, the energy tax and VAT, so the screen shows what you pay. Read how in Contract and tariff.

For the electricity prices, Thuisbord asks the price source only for the day and the market zone, such as the Netherlands. No data about your household ever goes with it. Your screens and phones get the prices from Thuisbord, and never ask the price source anything themselves.

Energy tax and VAT

The energy tax and VAT in the price come from the rates of the Belastingdienst, the Dutch tax authority. Thuisbord takes them over, with the day they start.

Weather

The weather comes from OpenWeather. Weather data © OpenWeather, under the Open Database License (ODbL):

Thuisbord fetches the weather from OpenWeather. Your screens and phones never ask OpenWeather anything themselves.
