The waste calendar

Show which bin goes out tomorrow on the screen, with the collection days of your waste collector.

Thuisbord shows on the screen which bin goes out tomorrow. The collection days come from your municipality's waste collector. Thuisbord looks them up by your address; you do not have to enter them yourself.

What you need

  • You are the owner of the household. Other adults and the screens see the collection days, but only the owner sets up the waste calendar.
  • Your household's address is in the app, with a house number. A waste collector looks up the collection days by postcode and house number.
  • Your waste collector is in Thuisbord's list. Thuisbord cannot read the collection days of every collector yet. If yours is not there, the waste calendar is not possible yet.

Setting up the waste calendar

  1. On your phone, go to Settings › Waste calendar and tap Set up the waste calendar.
  2. Under Choose your waste collector, pick your municipality's collector. In Search by name or municipality, type the name of the collector or of your municipality.
  3. Thuisbord asks that one collector which addresses it knows at your postcode and house number. If it knows one, the app asks Is this your address? If more households live at the same number, for example with a house letter or an addition, pick the right one under Which address is yours? With Omrin the addition goes along, and you get only the one address Omrin knows. If Omrin does not find your address although it collects your waste, check that the addition in the app is the same as on omrin.nl.
  4. Thuisbord fetches the collection days straight away. Then they are on the screen.

From then on, Thuisbord fetches the collection days again every night, between 3 and 6 in the morning. So changes by the collector, such as a collection day moved around a public holiday, are on the screen the next morning. Thuisbord keeps the collection days up to twelve weeks ahead.

On the screen

On the Home screen, Waste shows which bin goes out tomorrow. The bins are shown with an icon and a name, such as organic waste, paper, plastic packaging or residual waste.

If Thuisbord could not fetch the collection days for two days, the screen shows the last known days, and Settings › Waste calendar says they may be out of date. Thuisbord keeps trying every night.

Another address or another collector

  • Moved, or changed the address? When the owner changes or removes the household's address, Thuisbord removes the waste calendar, because it belongs to the old address. Set it up again for the new address.
  • Picked the wrong collector? In Settings › Waste calendar, tap Choose another waste collector.
  • No waste calendar any more? Tap Remove the waste calendar. Thuisbord forgets the collector and the collection days at once.

What happens to your address

Thuisbord only sends your postcode and house number once the owner sets up the waste calendar, and only to the system the chosen collector publishes its waste calendar with. The addition is not sent, except to Omrin, which can only be asked with it. After that, Thuisbord keeps only the number that system knows your address by, encrypted, and uses it every night to ask for the collection days. Omrin has no such number: for Omrin, Thuisbord keeps the postcode, the house number and the addition, encrypted, and uses them every night to ask Omrin's website for the collection days. The screens never receive the address or that number. Read more in What Thuisbord receives and on the privacy page.
